Working together to help the hungry

In the spirit of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, attorneys from Dickinson Wright recently volunteered at Mercado Food Hub pantry in Detroit, packing food boxes for the needy in the community, according to Mahesh Nayak, who helped coordinate the effort for the law firm. “This is an annual labor of love for our group,” said Nayak. “I have headed it the last 5 years, and it’s very gratifying on many levels. Volunteers assist with food distribution at the Ford Resource and Engagement Center Mercado Food Hub pantry, run by Gleaner’s. Volunteer activities include helping to pack food, loading shopping carts indoors and loading food into vehicles outdoors. We spent about 5 hours on Monday and the time flew.” Pictured are (left to right) Heather Hoey, Terry Donnelly, Katy Wood, Deb Grace, Najah Allaham, Mahesh Nayak, Aaron Burrell and Ann Helms.
