Muskegon County Clerk Nancy A. Waters once again opened the county clerk’s office for a “Full Service Saturday” to Muskegon County residents on March 10, 2018. The hours of service were scheduled as 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. and people were lined up by 9:40 a.m. waiting to obtain needed services provided by the county clerk’s office.

Staff was on hand to process CPL applications and renewals, birth and death certificates, marriage licenses and all other services normally provided by the office.  At the time this writer was there, more than 12 people had already either applied for CPL’s or renewed existing licenses. Certified copies of various documents were provided to customers. Employees even took requests that were beyond the scope of the clerk’s office and referred them to the appropriate office during the week.

Sherry DeMuro of Muskegon County Genealogical Society was on site in the archive room to assist those who wanted to genealogy research. The Muskegon County Genealogical Society has a representative on-site in the county clerk’s office every Wednesday from 2-4 in the afternoon to assist people doing research. Those interested in learning more about genealogical research can contact the society in writing at the Torrent House, 315 W Webster Ave, Muskegon, MI 49440-1208 or online at www.genealogymuskegon.org.

The Saturday services even included a wedding in the room adjacent to the clerk’s office set up especially for weddings. Nancy A. Waters performed a wedding ceremony for Stephen Kinney and Mandee Doehrman of Muskegon County.  The newlyweds were happy that the office was open on Saturday and they could have the ceremony on Saturday so the kids would not have to be taken out of school to attend.

The couple were married with Stephen Kinney’s children Anthony Kinney, Ayden Kinney, Mercedes Kinney, and Casey Kinney present.  Also attending was a close family friend, Jeffery Phipps. All involved were very happy with the Full Service Saturday.

Muskegon County Clerk Nancy A. Waters, has opened the clerk’s offices several times for “Full Service Saturday” and the concept seems to receive a favorable response from county residents. It’s all about service, and the clerk’s office staff goes above and beyond to provide that in a professional, courteous, and friendly way.
