Workforce agency hosts veteran workshops, resource fairs, hiring

West Michigan Works!  announces it will honor those who served in the military by offering job search services with a veteran focus during the week of Nov. 12.

All eight West Michigan Works! service centers throughout the agency’s seven-county region will participate.

“We serve veterans every day, but we want to set aside this special time around Veterans Day to honor the men and women who served our country and support their specific career needs,” said Talent Solutions Director Brittany Lenertz.

West Michigan Works! will host a variety of free workshops that address veterans’ job search needs. Workshops will include interview techniques, soft skill development, and resume writing, which help veterans convey their military experience using civilian language that hiring managers can easily understand.

Several service centers will hold resource fairs; veteran-friendly employers will be present at service centers as either an Employer of the Day or a part of a larger multi-employer hiring event.

The complete schedule of events and a list of other veteran resources and perks is at www.westmiworks.org/vetweek, orcome to a service center Nov. 13-16.
