Man sentenced to time served in trailer torching
PONTIAC (AP) -- A 26-year-old Oakland County man who authorities say tried to burn his family's trailer with his wife and four children inside has been sentenced to time already served.
WHMI-FM reports Mark Mitchell of Lyon Township was sentenced last Thursday in Oakland County Circuit Court to 105 days in jail and two years of probation. He also must attend a training program on impulsive control. Mitchell pleaded no contest in June to arson of a dwelling.
Authorities have said Mitchell was arrested after the fire broke out Feb. 4 at his mobile home in Lyon Township. The sheriff's department has said he told deputies he poured gasoline on one side of the home but denied igniting it.
Officers put out the fire with extinguishers before firefighters arrived.
