LANSING (AP) -- Michigan's state parks and recreation areas are being honored with a national award.
The state Department of Natural Resources announced that it was notified Wednesday about the 2011 National Recreation and Park Association's Gold Medal for the top state park system. Michigan was named one of four finalists for the award in May.
