The Regulation of Securities Committee and the Small Business Forum of the State Bar of Michigan’s Business Law Section presented “The JOBS Act: What Is It & What Does It Mean for Michigan Businesses?” on Tuesday, June 5, at the Columbia Center in Troy.

Taking part in the program were (left to right) moderator Jerry Schwartz of Dickinson Wright PLLC, Mark Metz of Dykema Gossett PLLC, Gerald Moore, moderator Doug Toering of Toering Law Firm PLLC, Diane Bissell of the Office of Financial & Insurance Regulation in Lansing, Donald Kunz of Honigman, Miller, Schwartz, & Cohn LLP; and Greg Coursen.

“The JOBS Act may represent a major change in how start-up businesses and second stage companies are funded,” noted Toering who is chair of the Small Business Forum.

“So anyone who does work in connection with finance or securities of small- or medium-sized businesses will need to know about the JOBS Act and that’s why we’re here today.”
