Tribute for a friend

During a patriotic night in Plymouth on Thursday, June 28, attorney David Calzone (left) received a royal salute courtesy of former state legislator John Stewart (right) and Detroit Legal News Publishing LLC.

Calzone, a partner with the Bingham Farms law firm of Vercruysse, Murray, & Calzone PC, was presented with a special framed copy of a recent story on him that appeared in The Legal News. The story paid tribute to Calzone, a University of Michigan Law School grad, for his distinguished career as a labor and employment law attorney, along with his involvement in a number of jazz and community bands.

Calzone, a trombonist in the Plymouth Community Band who was a member of the U-M Marching Band during his collegiate days, received the framed story from Dawn Keith, Wayne County foreclosure/probate manager for The Legal News, along with Tom Kirvan, editor in chief of The Legal News.

Stewart orchestrated the tribute for his friend and fellow attorney.  Calzone’s wife Linda (center), associate director of the Plymouth Community Band, was also on hand to congratulate her husband.

The presentation was made during a festive concert by the band in Plymouth’s Kellogg Park downtown.
