Competency exam for mom accused of killing girl

DETROIT (AP) -- A judge has ordered a competency examination for a 26-year-old mother accused of fatally stabbing her 8-year-old daughter while at least one of her other children watched. District Judge Michael Wagner directed Wednesday that Semeria Greene undergo evaluation to see if she's mentally competent to stand trial on a first-degree murder charge. He scheduled a hearing March 1 to review the exam results. Authorities say Greene killed 8-year-old Tameria Greene on Dec. 30 at their home on Detroit's near east side. Court documents that the Detroit Free Press reviewed say the victim's 4-year-old brother has continued to re-enact his sister's slaying after telling state workers he watched his mother stab her to death. The state is seeking to end the mother's parental rights to her four sons. Published: Fri, Jan 18, 2013
