High court to review discrimination lawsuit win

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Supreme Court says it will decide if a doctor's discrimination lawsuit against a Texas medical center should be upheld. The justices recently said they will review a judgment against the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Nael Nassar won a more than $3 million discrimination lawsuit against the center. He left there in 2006 after complaining of harassment, with a clinic withdrawing its job offer after a medical center supervisor opposed his hiring. The medical center says Nassar should have to prove that his employer would not have taken an adverse action against him if it didn't have an improper motive. Other courts have said plaintiffs only have to prove that an improper motive was only one of multiple reasons for an adverse employment action. Published: Thu, Jan 24, 2013
