Appeals court affirms fine, probation for vet

SAULT STE. MARIE (AP) -- An Upper Peninsula veterinarian has lost her appeal over discipline by state regulators in the care of a dog. Cynthia Sue Anderson was assessed a $1,000 fine last year and placed on probation for two years. The case centered on the care of Laya, a dog that was euthanized after developing post-surgery problems in 2008. The Michigan appeals court recently upheld the sanctions saying there was support for a disciplinary panel's findings of fact. Anderson denied wrongdoing. Her clinic is in Sault Ste. Marie. She referred a request for comment to her attorney. Published: Tue, Mar 12, 2013
