'Service to Soldiers' training conducted

In conjunction with the Oakland County Bar Association’s Veterans Committee and Thomas M. Cooley Law School’s “Service to Soldiers” – a legal assistance referral program – Cooley offered a free training seminar on Friday, April 12, at the Oakland County Bar Center in Bloomfield Hills.

The training was offered to help attorneys and their firms prepare to expertly represent military service members and learn about opportunities to support low-income military members and families through pro bono service.

On board and happy to present at the program were (left to right) Heather Spielmaker, director of Cooley’s Center for Ethics, Service and Professionalism, and Lt. Col. John Wojcik, general counsel for the Michigan National Guard.

“‘Service to Soldiers’ offers an opportunity to the attorneys to use the training they get today to actually assist returning troops with civilian legal matters that they face upon return home,” Spielmaker said.
