Man, 45, pleads guilty in death of homeless man
HOWELL, Mich. (AP) -- A man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the 2010 beating and hypothermia death of a 71-year-old homeless man.
WHMI-FM and the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus of Howell report Mitchell J. Hall of Byron made the plea last Thursday in Livingston County District Court in Howell. It came a day after co-defendant 52-year-old Antoinette Hix of Gaines made the same plea.
They made the pleas in exchange for the dropping of first-degree murder and elder abuse charges. Sentencing for both is Oct. 7.
The body of Clarence E. Hines was found in April 2010 in Conway Township, about 35 miles east of Lansing. They'd been caring for Hines.
Authorities filed charges in 2011.
