Local attorney helps support Women's Caring Program, August 15

Beth S. Gotthelf, a shareholder in Butzel Long's Bloomfield Hills office, is putting her efforts behind another charitable cause to support the advancement of women in the workplace. Along with other women in the southeast business community, Gotthelf, a Birmingham resident, will serve as a co-hostess for the Women's Caring Program Twilight event to be held Thursday, Aug. 15, at the home of Alicia Masse. "I'm very interested in programs where women are actively supporting women, especially helping unemployed and underemployed women reach their potential," said Gotthelf. "The Women's Caring program twilight events, like the one in West Bloomfield, are fund-raisers and networking opportunities where the money raised goes directly to help women enter and stay in the workforce, knowing their children are safe and well-cared for during the work day. It's a program that helps women become self-supporting and ultimately be the best they can be while setting a positive example for their families." The Women's Caring program began in 1979 as a small circle of friends who gathered to share stories, bring new friends to the group and strengthen relationships. Over the years, the expanding circle of women became especially concerned about the childcare needs of working mothers and their ability to pay for quality care for their children. The group began raising funds to support quality care of children from low-income, working families. These efforts led to the creation of the Women's Caring Program. Since those early days, the Women's Caring Program has raised more than $2.5 million and awarded nearly 1,100 scholarships to Michigan families. In addition to Gotthelf, other co-hostesses for the Aug. 15 event are Blanca Fauble, Shannon M. Hannon, Terry Olejnik, Carol Walters, Tricia Llewelyn, Diane Antishin, Celeste Arduino, Debra Kiteley, Judy Malburg, Anne Doyle, Terry Barclay, Tricia Sherick, Faye Shamoun and Carole Winnard Brumm. At Butzel, Gotthelf is the firm's director of Innovation and External Relations, co-chair of the Energy & Sustainability practice, and the chair of the Aerospace & Defense industry team. In addition to supporting Women's Caring Program, Gotthelf's charitable activities include past president of the Board of Trustees for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Michigan Chapter; Board member of the Michigan Israel Business Bridge; Board member of the Better Business Bureau; executive board member and trustee of the Jewish Vocational Services; member of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit, State Government Relations Oversight Committee; member of the the Seymour Gill Financial Women's Advisory Board; and board member of Sister to Sister.
