HUD gives $1.2M to Mich. fair housing groups
ANN ARBOR (AP) -- Federal officials have awarded four grants worth a total of about $1.2 million to Michigan fair housing organizations to help reduce housing discrimination.
The grants announced Wednesday by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development are going to organizations in Ann Arbor, Detroit, Flint and Grand Rapids.
HUD officials said in a release that the grants help enforce the Fair Housing Act through investigation and testing of alleged discriminatory practices. They also go toward efforts to educate individuals and groups about rights and responsibilities under the act.
The money is part of $38.3 million the department has given to 95 organizations and agencies in 38 states.
