Retired judge to receive Pioneer of Justice Award

 Legal Aid and Defender Association Inc. (LAD) has announced that Michael F. Sapala, retired Wayne County Circuit Court judge, is the winner of its 2013 Ed Pokorny Pioneer of Justice Award.

 
The award is one of nine “Laddys” bestowed on members of the legal community for their pro bono service to LAD clients.  Sapala and the other 2013 Laddy winners will receive their awards Thursday, Nov. 21, at 3 p.m. in a ceremony in the historic chief judge’s courtroom of the Theodore Levin United States Courthouse, 231 W. Lafayette St. in Detroit.
