Langton announces candidacy for Oakland Circuit Court

Oakland County Deputy Court Administrator Lisa Langton recently announced her candidacy for Oakland County Circuit Court judge.

Langton, 52, of Troy is running for the vacant seat previously held by Judge John McDonald. McDonald has endorsed Langton, as has Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson.

“Oakland County needs tough, fair judges like Lisa Langton. That’s why she has my endorsement and I’m helping to lead her campaign,” Patterson said.

Several Oakland County legal community members, including former Oakland County Circuit Court Chief Judge Barry Howard, will serve on Langton’s campaign finance team.

“Lisa Langton is an exceptionally qualified candidate for Circuit Court judge,” Howard said. “I’m proud to endorse her and to be part of her team.”

Other members of Langton’s campaign finance team include: Van Conway, Linda Orlans, John F. Schaefer, R. Jamison Williams, Jr., Drs. Harris and Phoebe Mainster, Tom Plunkett, Jules Olsman, Ven Johnson, Jeff Appel, Rick Warsh, Mayer Morganroth, John Akouri, Jim Parks, and Brian Kramer.

In addition to her finance committee members, nearly 100 officials, judges, community leaders and activists have already endorsed Langton. These endorsements will be announced in the near future.

As deputy court administrator, Langton is part of the management team that has molded Oakland County into a model court for Michigan.

“My professional life has been dedicated to serving families and the courts of Oakland County,” Langton said. “I have the right background and the right experience to be an effective judge.”

Prior to her current position, Langton was in private practice as an advocate for children and families. She’s also a legal lecturer who authored a monthly column for the Oakland County Bar Association from 1998 through 2006.

Langton is a graduate of the Detroit College of Law and a member of numerous professional, civic and charitable organizations.
