Wolf v Pig at district court

The Oakland County Bar Association (OCBA) and Kurtz Elementary School students recently participated in a mock trial at Oakland County 52-1 District Court in Novi with the assistance of Judge Brian MacKenzie.

The case, The Big Bad Wolf vs. The Curly Pig, allowed third graders to simulate a real trial and learn about the justice system.  The students played various roles, including judge, bailiff, plaintiff and defense attorneys, witness, jury, and of course, the wolf and the pig.

The OCBA Mock Trial program is designed to specifically fit within the State of Michigan’s Social Studies Content Expectation and the Michigan Citizenship Collaboration Curriculum.

In addition to the mock trial, Jennifer Grieco, OCBA member and attorney at Neuman Anderson PC, met with students and helped them with their roles and answered questions about the legal system.
