Settlement firm passed from one generation to next

 Christine Logan Buechner has acquired James E. Logan & Associates and will assume the role of president and CEO of the company. Founded by her father James in 1996, the firm provides comprehensive settlement consulting services in Michigan and across the U.S.

With the acquisition, James E. Logan & Associates becomes the only woman-owned and operated structured settlement firm in the country. Buechner has been a certified structured settlement consultant (CSSC) for the past 25 years and formerly held the position of executive vice president of Logan & Associates as well as its sister company, American Settlement Centers Inc. She will assume the new role of owner and president/CEO immediately.

“My father, Jim, built a company with a sterling reputation in the settlement industry and as the new owner and CEO, I will work to not only continue but grow that legacy,” said Buechner. “I am thrilled to be able to launch a new path of leadership for the company, knowing my father will continue to be available to advise us in our near- and long-term strategy. This acquisition is the fulfillment of a long-time goal for me. A graduate of Michigan State University, Buechner  earned a national reputation for her experience in the successful resolution of claims involving physical injuries. She has served on the National Structured Settlements Trade Association (NSSTA) board and is a former chair of the NSSTA’s PAC Board of Directors.

A graduate of the Leadership Oakland Cornerstone Program, Buechner has served on the West Bloomfield Educational Foundation and also has been active with Scouting programs in southeast Michigan.

James E. Logan & Associates was founded by Jim Logan after he served as vice president of Kenneth H. Wells and Associates. He and his daughter, Christine, left Wells to launch the new company 21 years ago in Farmington Hills and became known quickly for their innovative and creative approaches to complex claim resolution.
