Oakland County board nearing end of budget process

The Oakland County Board of Commissioners' Finance Committee will be wrapping up the budget process beginning at 10 a.m., on Thursday, Aug. 28, in Committee Room A located at 1200 North Telegraph Road in Pontiac. The budget for the Clerk/Register of Deeds Office and the Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission will be presented before the committee. On Thursday, Aug. 14, Oakland County Treasurer Andy Meisner, Oakland County Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard and Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper presented their budget before the committee. Other departments that also presented budgets included representatives from the Oakland County Water Resources Commission, the Oakland County Board of Commissioners, and the Oakland County Law Library Board. All meetings will be webcasted and recorded by Trenton-based company SoundQue. The public will be able to view the "live" webcast online at www.oakgov/boc or www.oakland.michiganliveevents.com. The nine member Finance Committee is led by Oakland County Commissioner Thomas F. Middleton (R), who serves as the finance chairperson and includes Commissioner Shelley Goodman Taub (R), who serves as the finance majority vice chairperson, Commissioner David Woodward (D), who serves as the finance minority vice chairperson. The committee also consists of Commissioners Christine A. Long (R), John A. Scott (R), Kathy S. Crawford (R), Board Vice Chairperson Jeff Matis (R), Nancy L. Quarles (D) and Helaine M. Zack (D). This committee oversees the county's approximately $800 million budget, in conjunction, with the full Board of Commissioners and the County Administration.
