Center launches advanced mediation training

Oakland Mediation Center (OMC) introduces two 8-hour “Advanced Mediation trainings for Civil and Domestic Mediators. Circuit Training for Mediators” is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 10, while “Boot Camp for Domestic Mediators: Family Law from A to Z” is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 4. Both trainings feature a mind workout theme and offer an early bird discount for registrants. The trainings also present mediators with the opportunity to become more mindful in their practice and strengthen their mediation skill set.

“Circuit Training for Mediators” is ideal for any mediator who has completed a 40-hour Mediator Training as approved by SCAO and wishes to enhance their mediation skill set or for those who need to fulfill the circuit court mediator requirement of 8 hours of advanced training every two years. Facilitated by seasoned mediator and trainer Kenzi Bisbing, this training provides both civil and domestic mediators the opportunity to expand their experience through mediation role-plays and facilitated process questions to capture learning moments from their peers and coaches. The training fee is $295.

Nationally known trainers and mediators Toni Raheem and Earlene Bagget-Hayes have more than 30 years of combined Alternative Dispute Resolution experience and will be the presenters at “Boot Camp for Domestic Mediators: Family Law from A to Z.” The goal of this SCAO approved training is to assist mediators who may not have a strong legal background in domestic relations law to become more comfortable with the legal issues, terminology and nuances of family law mediations. Register by Nov. 4 and receive $50 off the training fee of $295.

“OMC trainings are great for content but also for the excellent mediation and facilitation techniques modeled by the presenters,” stated Bonnie Hanes, executive director of Oakland Mediation Center. “People will be blown away with the knowledge and skills learned at our trainings.”

Trainings taught at OMC are approved by SCAO and are designed to be highly interactive and skill based. The trainings take place at the Oakland Mediation Center in Bloomfield Hills and include continental breakfast, lunch, snacks and course materials.
