Check-ins popular at Secretary of State offices
LANSING (AP) - A service that lets people make appointments in advance for visits to Michigan Secretary of State branches has been used more than 1 million times since being launched less than a year ago.
Secretary of State Ruth Johnson says the service is available in 10 of the busiest offices. It calls or sends a text message to customers when they're about to be called and gives an estimated wait time.
Customers without a phone or Internet access can still visit a branch, check in and run errands while waiting for their appointment.
The service is offered at branches in Flint, Grand Rapids and Lansing along with seven branches in metropolitan Detroit.
Johnson says customer feedback to the service is "incredible."
