Kagan says not to expect cameras in Supreme Court anytime soon

WASHINGTON (AP) - Justice Elena Kagan has bad news for people hoping to watch the Supreme Court's historic gay marriage arguments on TV: Don't expect cameras in the court anytime soon. Kagan told an audience at the University of Chicago's Institute of Politics on Monday that it's not likely the court will soon lift its ban on cameras. Kagan said she is "conflicted" over the issue and noted strong arguments on both sides. She understands the public's desire to see the court in action, but says she is wary of anything "that may upset the dynamic of the institution." She pointed to what happened in Congress, saying lawmakers talk more in made-for-TV sound bites than to each other. She said Congress is not "a great advertisement for this."
