Youth Suicide Prevention Community forum planned for May 7

In honor of National Children's Mental Health Awareness Week, Oakland County's Youth Suicide Prevention Task Force is hosting the 3rd Annual Youth Suicide Prevention Community Forum on Thursday, May 7, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Resource & Crisis Center, located at 1200 N Telegraph Rd, Building 32 E, in Pontiac.

Oakland County invites parents, youth, teachers, clinicians, coaches, social workers, and other professionals who work with youth to learn about suicide prevention resources in the community.

Attendees can browse tables with community resources and hear presentations on mental health & stigma, the Common Ground Resource & Crisis Center, Mental Health First Aid, and a 5 p.m. performance from the SaYes Theatre Troupe, a prevention-based theater program comprised of trained peer mentors ages 15-25. Attendees may arrive at any time during the open-house-style event and use the Conference Center entrance on Hospital Drive on the Oakland County Campus.
