Former Little League treasurer gets probation for embezzling

MOUNT CLEMENS (AP) - A judge has sentenced an ex-Detroit-area Little League treasurer to five years probation and making $165,000 in restitution for stealing from the youth baseball group.

Macomb County Circuit Judge James Maceroni issued the sentence Wednesday to Karen Dimitrie. She pleaded guilty March 12 and admits stealing the money in 2008 to 2013 while she was treasurer of the Clinton Valley Little League.

The judge also sentenced Dimitrie to one day's imprisonment, with credit for time served. He says she can't enter any casino and must begin the restitution payments with $3,000 by June 15 and $750 a month after that.
