Twenty years later, two men convicted of murder in Manistee County

MANISTEE, Mich. (AP) - Two northern Michigan men have been convicted of first-degree murder in the death of another man 20 years ago.

Vincent Adamczak, a 41-year-old from Wellston, was reported missing in 2002, although he hadn't been seen since 1995. A jury in Manistee County convicted Pete Peterson and Robert Knauss.

State prosecutor Doug Baker told jurors Wednesday that the pair worked "hand in glove" to kill Adamczak. Peterson and Knauss face a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole.

Police found evidence of human remains at Peterson's home in Norman Township in 2011, although his attorney said the remains never were identified as Adamczak. That same year, Rosemary Skrzycki pleaded no contest to being an accessory after murder and agreed to cooperate.
