Commissioner appointed to NACo leadership team

Oakland County Commissioner Shelley Goodman Taub was appointed to the National Association of Counties (NACo) leadership team by NACo President, Sallie Clark. Commissioner Taub was appointed vice chair of the Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) Subcommittee and subcommittee chair of Education, Children and Families on the Human Services and Education Committee.

Taub’s experience and expertise in the field of education will be particularly valuable in her capacity as subcommittee chair.  She will also serve as a member of the Arts and Culture Commission and the Large Urban County Caucus.

“I am honored to be appointed to NACo’s leadership team,” stated Taub.  “I look forward to serving in each of these new capacities, and I appreciate the opportunity to represent Oakland County and my community at the national level.”

Committee participation at the national level is a significant commitment and responsibility, especially as the federal government is currently engaged in the process of developing policies on a number of issues that impact counties throughout the United States.  Clark also invited Taub to participate in the various “Safe and Secure Counties” activities related to her Presidential Initiative, which will demonstrate the importance of counties, parishes and boroughs, and will showcase NACo’s current initiatives, policies and efforts on a multitude of important issues from emergency preparedness to public health.

Taub represents the 12th District on the Oakland County Board of Commissioners, which includes the City of Birmingham, the City of Bloomfield Hills, and the majority of Bloomfield Township.
