Woman convicted in husband's slaying

DETROIT (AP) - A Detroit woman charged in the slaying of her husband and wounding of her 8-year-old daughter has been convicted of manslaughter and assault.

Wayne County Circuit Court records show that Jacqueline Lewis faces sentencing Oct. 19 after the jury returned its verdict last Friday.

Lewis had been charged with premeditated murder, a form of first-degree murder, but the conviction came back on the lesser manslaughter charge.

Cornell Lewis was shot to death in February following an argument in the family's northwest Detroit home. Authorities say Jacqueline Lewis also aimed a gun at her 11-year-old son.
