Firm hosts 28th annual labor forum, November 5

Human resources professionals have a daily challenge to stay ahead of the curve on labor and employment law matters. The Butzel Long seminar kicks off with a Super Session titled “The Department of Labor’s Plans to Expand Overtime Pay Eligibility and to Attack Misclassification of Employees as Independent Contractors.”

Participants can then select two of the eight workshops offered on issues faced by most employers. Workshop session topics include: What EVERY (Even Non-Union) Employer Needs to Know About the New Union Election Rules; How to Address FMLA Abuses and Intermittent Leave Issues; Proceed with Caution – Top Ten Takeaways for Employee Benefits; Best Practices for Properly Completing and Retaining I-9 Form; The Broadening Scope of Sex Discrimination Claims; Recruiting and Retaining the Best Employees; Preventing and Remedying Employee Theft of Trade Secrets; Hot Topics in Immigration Law: A Discussion of Recent Developments.

Attendees will then attend a panel presentation titled “HR Practices that Work” where Butzel attorneys and human resource professional guest panelists will identify and discuss  methods of  creating an improved workplace for management and employees.
