Semifinalists selected for local entrepreneurs contest

DETROIT (AP) - Ten Detroit-area entrepreneurs have been selected as semifinalists for the 2016 Comerica Hatch Detroit Contest.

Organizers say they are competing for a $50,000 grand prize from Comerica Bank and more than $200,000 in pro bono services from Hatch Detroit and its partners.

Four finalists will be selected through public voting at four locations across the city and online. Voting closes Aug. 18. The finalists then will present final business pitches to a panel of judges. A winner is scheduled to be announced Aug. 26.

Semifinalists are: Ash & Anvil, Bird Bee, Brut Detroit, Chugga's Main Street Bakery, Corbé, Coriander, Detroit Dart Club, ITADAKU, Meta Physica Massage, and The Natural Market.

The contest started in 2011.
