IT Law Annual Meeting hosted by SBM section

The State Bar of Michigan Information Technology Law Section will present the  IT Law: Annual Meeting and Annual IT Seminar from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, at the Inn at St. John’s, 44045 Five Mile Rd. in Plymouth.

Sponsored by Dykema, Bejin Bieneman PLC, and Privacy Associates International LLC, the seminar promises to be an educational and entertaining event. The Annual Meeting portion of the seminar is free to attend, but registration is requested.

Topics will include Internet of Things—Supply Agreements, Intellectual Property, Privacy and Data Security Issues; Indemnity, Limitation of Liability, and Warranty Provisions from a Litigation Perspective; Transaction Taxes for Software and IT Services; and Online Concerns for Employers.

Speakers include Vineet Shahani, director, Legal, Nest Labs; Deborah Gertsen, counsel, Global Privacy, Ford Motor Company; Renee J. Phillips, counsel, General Motors – Privacy; Mark Werling, senior counsel, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles; Dalpreet Salujah, director, European Patents at HARMAN International; Leigh Taggart, partner, Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group, Honigman; Drew McEwen, senior counsel, Tax Litigation and Planning, Dykema; and Dave Nacht, founding member, NachtLaw.

The moderator is Mark G. Malven, Dykema Gossett PLLC, lead author of the PLI treatise “Technology Transactions: A Practical Guide to Drafting and Negotiating Commercial Agreements.”

The annual IT Law Section and Council meetings will be held during the luncheon, and will include election of 2016–2017 council members and section officers.
