Firm supports homeless veterans with Volunteers of America Michigan

The Sam Bernstein Law Firm, of Farmington Hills, has provided funding to Volunteers of America Michigan (VOAMI), thanks to funding through CBS EcoMedia and CBS Detroit. The Sam Bernstein Law Firm’s support will help VOAMI in its goal to end veteran homelessness via two major initiatives.

Funds will be committed to physical repairs of one of VOAMI’s housing communities in Metro Detroit and the health and safety of the veterans who live there, specifically at the Veterans Village of Hope apartments. Additionally, funds will support the assembly and distribution of care packages to veterans across Southeast Michigan to assist in their recovery to self-sufficiency and as a demonstration of gratitude for their service.

To announce and celebrate this partnership, VOAMI hosted representatives from the Sam Bernstein Law Firm and CBS EcoMedia at its Detroit Veterans Service Center for a Veterans Day-themed luncheon November 7. Members of The Sam Bernstein Law Firm – including Sam, Mark and Beth Bernstein – volunteered to set up and serve lunch for more than 60 veteran guests. The law firm’s volunteers also distributed more than 75 care packages to attending veterans.

“Since our family started The Sam Bernstein Law Firm, our focus has always been on providing support for members of our Michigan community who need it most. Our veterans deserve better,” said Mark Bernstein, president and managing partner at The Sam Bernstein Law Firm. “Our family is proud to help the veterans who have served our nation and continue to teach us lessons about sacrifice and courage every day. We’re working together with Volunteers of America Michigan to repair veteran housing facilities and provide essentials to help homeless veterans.”

“The commitment of the Bernstein family and staff is inspiring and genuine,” said Patrick Patterson, CEO for Volunteers of American Michigan. “Not only are they supporting our work financially, but they took the time to volunteer, serve a meal, shake hands and meet personally with the veterans, who truly appreciated these gestures of respect. We are honored to count The Sam Bernstein Law Firm as a partner in our work with Michigan’s veterans.”
