PHOTO #1: Western Michigan University Cooley Law School’s Auburn Hills students collected food during the month of November in order to assemble and deliver ingredients for Thanksgiving dinner for 100 local families in need this holiday. The meals were delivered to Avondale High School, where administrators identified families who will receive the meals.  Pictured are WMU-Cooley students with members of the Avondale High School Basketball team and the school’s principal Sharon Hyde. Avondale’s basketball team helped WMU-Cooley students with delivering the meals.

PHOTO #2: Each year, as part of the law school’s “Making Meals Happen” program, students collect potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green beans, corn, cranberry sauce, cornbread mix and gift cards for turkeys. Over the last nine years, students have donated over 1,500 meals to those in the community who might not otherwise be able to afford a Thanksgiving meal. “It’s a great feeling seeing students take time to help others,” said Professor Martha Moore, who has been involved with the ‘Making Meals Program’ since its beginning. “Because of these collaborative efforts, more than 200 families are getting a Thanksgiving meal this year.”
