The Federal Bar Association (FBA), Eastern District of Michigan Chapter, hosted the 33nd Annual Leonard R. Gilman Award Luncheon on April 24 at the Atheneum Hotel in Detroit. During the event, Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Chutkow was presented with the Gilman Award. Recently appointed Chief of the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Chutkow has served as Chief of the Public Corruption Unit, where he was the lead attorney in the prosecution of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. Chutkow previously practiced at the law firm of Sidley and Austin in Chicago and served in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Seattle. The Gilman Award is presented annually to an outstanding practitioner of criminal law who exemplifies the excellence, professionalism, and commitment to public service of Len Gilman who was U.S. Attorney at the time of his death in 1985.
