Honors presented by commissioners

The Oakland County Board of Commissioners conducted a meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 22, in the Commissioners Auditorium at the Oakland County Courthouse in Pontiac. During the meeting, Commissioner Shelley Goodman Taub (center, left photo) presented proclamations to Ron Cousineau (left, left photo) and Mike West (right, left photo) in recognition of the development of their own approach to eliminating phragmites, an invasive grass, without the use of chemicals.

Taub also recognized eight-year-old Taso Stassinopoulos (left, right photo) who saved his younger brother’s life by performing the Heimlich maneuver.

Also during the meeting, Commissioner Christine Long (first row, third from left) along with Kathy Forzley (first row, third from right), director of Oakland County Health and Human Services, and Joanna Overall, manager of Children’s Village, recognized Children’s Village employees for saving the lives of two of their colleagues when they suffered heart attacks.
