New judge sworn in

Recently appointed Judge Kameshia Gant (left) was sworn in and welcomed by Oakland County Circuit Court Chief Judge Shalina Kumar (right) on Friday, May 17, at the Oakland County Courthouse in Pontiac. Gant was appointed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to fill a partial term which expires on January 1, 2021, after Judge Karen McDonald stepped down effective April 12. Gant received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and her law degree from Wayne State University Law School. If Gant wishes to seek a full six-year term, she would be required to run for re-election in November of 2020.
