Veterans Treatment Court celebrates graduates

A ceremony was held at the Macomb County Circuit Courthouse on Thursday, July 25, for recent graduates of the county’s Veterans Treatment Court (VTC). Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Michael Servitto (center), who took over the docket last year, presided over the ceremony for the three new graduates at the courtouse in downtown Mt. Clemens. Servitto is pictured with (left to right) Sgt. Kevin Gillespie, Macomb County Sheriff’s Office; Greg Cronce, veterans service officer with Macomb County Veterans Services; Jennifer Chupa, defense counsel; Christine Landino, VTC therapist, Class A training; Lorie Menzie, VTC coordinator; Daniel Cuschieri, veterans justice outreach coordinator, John D. Dingell VA Medical Center; William Bailey, state Department of Corrections probation agent; and Capt. David Kennedy, Macomb County Sheriff’s Office. The court, which began operations in 2012 and now has 33 graduates, focuses on helping veterans of the armed forces who are charged with crimes obtain treatment or other services to address underlying problems.
