The Oakland County Bar Association has scheduled an online seminar, via Zoom, for Friday, April 24.  “Common Employment Law Issues in a COVID-19 World” will be presented from noon to 1 p.m.

Given the spread of the COVID-19 virus, labor and employment laws are changing rapidly. This webinar is designed to provide answers to  frequently asked questions from clients whether they are employers or employees. Among the issues to be discussed are:

• Unemployment concerns
• Issues surrounding critical infrastructure and essential employees
• Leave issues, including layoffs v furloughs, EFMLA, Families First, and paid leave

Panelists included Mary C. Aretha of Collins, Einhorn, Farrell PC; Aaron V. Burrell of Dickinson Wright PLLC; Syeda Davidson of The Sharp Firm; Julie L. Kosovec of Brooks, Wilkins, Sharkey & Turco PLLC; and Jennifer L. Lord of Pitt, McGehee, Palmer, and Rivers PC.

The panelists want to address attendees’ most pressing questions and welcome questions prior to this seminar. To submit questions, email them to mjones@ocba.org by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, and they will be forwarded to the panelists in preparation for this event.

The program is free to OCBA members and $25 for non-members. Registrants will receive instructions on how to access the online Zoom meeting in the “Enter Program” section of the confirmation email that they will receive once they have registered for the program.
