On Wednesday, December 30, newly elected Judge Lorie Savin was sworn in to the Oakland County Circuit Court by Judge Cheryl Matthews. A few family members and staff were present at the ceremony at the Oakland County Courthouse in Pontiac but it was also conducted via Zoom with several friends, family, and colleagues looking on.

Savin grew up in Oak Park and Southfield where she attended public schools.  She is a graduate of the University of Michigan and the Wayne State University Law School.

Savin is an award winning referee with more than twenty years of experience in family law. She is a published author on family law, as well as a public speaker on the issue.  She is also an appointee on the State Bar of Michigan’s Judicial Ethics Committee.

Earlier last week, newly appointed Judge Yasmine Poles was also sworn in via Zoom by Oakland County Circuit Court Chief Judge Shalina Kumar on Monday, December 28.
