Butzel Long will host a complimentary Zoom webinar on “Cybersecurity Cryptocurrency and Trade Secrets: Protection, Legal Issues, and Business Application” from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16.
In May 2010, the first real world transaction involving cryptocurrency took place when a man bought two pizzas for 10,000 Bitcoin. Today, hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of cryptocurrencies change hands every day as digital assets (and the blockchain technology they rely on) revolutionize finance and the way business is done. And as for those pizzas? They’d now be would be worth more than $450 million. A section of the presentation aims to provide a basic introduction to Bitcoin and blockchain, discuss potential business applications, and explore some of the legal issues surrounding this fascinating technology.
In the ever evolving tech world, it’s hard to overemphasize the importance of maintaining robust privacy and data security measures. Not only are hackers becoming more sophisticated in their offensive weaponry, but with 1 in 4 Americans continuing to work from home through 2021, this increases the “threat landscape” that businesses must protect and defend. A portion of the presentation will discuss the new and evolving cybersecurity threats that we expect in the coming year and what tools and practices are available to minimize the threats.
With those employees working remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond, it has become more important than ever for businesses to protect trade secrets. In this section of the program, learn some of the legal risks and best practices to prevent trade secret theft where employees are accessing corporate databases remotely and using company equipment at home. Topics will include employee polices, contracts, and legal remedies to ensure a business is protected. Speaking will be Butzel Long Shareholders William Kraus, Brett Miller, and Claudia Rast.
