News (AP) - Imprisoned consultant ordered to surrender watch

DETROIT (AP) -- A judge says Detroit political consultant Sam Riddle must surrender a $5,500 designer watch he got as part of a bribe from a Southfield jeweler.

U.S. District Judge Marianne Battani issued a forfeiture order Wednesday for the watch.

The order says Riddle agreed to turn over the Breitling watch as part of his plea to conspiracy. He admitted roles in bribery and extortion schemes with then-Southfield Councilman William councilman and then-Detroit Councilwoman Monica Conyers.

Authorities say Riddle conspired to give Lattimore $12,500 to help the jewelry store relocate to the Detroit suburb.

Riddle is now in federal prison at his own request. He declined bond to begin serving time credited against an expected sentence of up to 37 months.
