Annual Bid & Brunch provides information for local businesses

Members of the Oakland County Board of Commissioners support the 9th Annual Bid & Brunch event which will be conducted Wednesday, Oct. 20, in the City of Southfield Pavilion, located at 26000 Evergreen Road in Southfield. The program is scheduled from 10 a.m to 3:30 p.m.

The Annual Bid & Brunch procurement match-making program provides small-to-midsize, minority and women-owned businesses with the opportunity to match their businesses services with governmental agencies. Participants attending the event will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with corporate, federal, state, county, municipal and institutional purchasing departments.

Speakers for this year's event, include business owners that have successfully diversified their companies, along with export panelists Moses Olaniran and Richard Corson, director of the Pontiac U.S. Export Assistance Center. Welcoming and open remarks will be given by Local 4 morning correspondent Paula Tutman, Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson, and others.

Participants will learn about potential business opportunities and have great networking options at the event.

Oakland County Chairman Bill Bullard Jr., expressed, "Supporting the business community is imperative to the survival of our county and country; it is important that government aids in the success of businesses with special programs like the Bid & Brunch helping businesses compete in this new global economy."

Oakland County Commissioner Eric Coleman, who represents the City of Southfield, stated "For nine years, the Bid & Brunch has educated local small-and-midsize businesses. This program has also been an avenue to open doors for minorities and women business owners who have historically been overlooked for business contracts. The Bid & Brunch has aided in leveling the playing field by serving as a path for inclusion of all qualified entrepreneurs."

There is a $75 registration fee.
