Former Michigan gov. to lead Business Roundtable

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Former Michigan Gov. John Engler has been chosen to lead the Business Roundtable, an association of chief executive officers of top U.S. companies.

Engler, a Republican, served three terms as Michigan governor, from 1991 to 2003. He has led the National Manufacturers Association (NAM) since 2004.

Engler says his new role at the Business Roundtable will allow him to "advocate for American innovation and job growth" while working with the nation's top business leaders.

Engler succeeds John J. Castellani, who became president and chief executive of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America in September.
