Individuals sought to serve on Friend of the Court advisory committee

The Oakland County Board of Commissioners seeks individuals to serve on the Friend of the Court Citizens Advisory Committee which was established by Public Act 1996, No. 366, and is advisory only. The purpose of the Committee is to review and investigate grievances concerning the Friend of the Court pursuant to the Michigan Compiled Law, M.C.L. 552.504a, and M.C.L. 552.526.

The Committee is comprised of nine members. They are: the sheriff or designee, the prosecuting attorney or designee, a Family Independence Agency Director or designee, a non-custodial parent, a custodial parent, Family Law practice attorney, mental health professional who provides family counseling, and two members of the general public.

Members serve 3-year terms as outlined in M.C.L. 552.504. The Committee meets at least six times each year.

The Board seeks to fill all the vacancies listed for the new 3-year terms in 2011:

* One (1) Non-custodial parent-Application deadline to be determined.

* One (1) Custodial parent-Application deadline to be determined.

* Two (2) Members of the General Public (unable to serve in any other capacity). The application deadline is Tuesday, May 24.
