Four family law attorneys named 'Super'

Four attorneys in the family law firm of Nichols, Sacks, Slank, Sendelbach & Buiteweg have been recognized as Michigan Super Lawyers for 2014, a distinction granted through peer ratings to fewer than 3 percent of attorneys statewide.

Lori Buiteweg, president-elect of the State Bar of Michigan, is a Michigan Super Lawyer for the fourth time. She previously served as the state bar’s treasurer, has chaired its Representative Assembly, and is serving her eleventh year as district commissioner.
Margo Nichols, a Super Lawyer since 2006, was named one of Michigan Lawyers Weekly’s distinguished “Women in the Law” for 2014 in recognition of her representation of family law clients for the past 37 years. A fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, she is past president of the AAML-Michigan Chapter and past chair of the state bar’s Family Law Section.
Monika Sacks has earned the Super Lawyer distinction for eight consecutive years. She is past president of the Michigan chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and a founding member and past president of the Collaborative Practice Institute of Michigan.
Karen Sendelbach has been recognized as a Michigan Super Lawyer since 2010 and is past chair of the state bar’s Family Law Section.
The firm celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2014, and its seven attorneys have a combined 152 years of practice experience. Based in Ann Arbor with an office in Birmingham, the firm serves clients in Washtenaw, Livingston, Lenawee, Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties.
The scope of its practice includes divorce, divorce mediation, custody and support, parenting coordination, property settlements, prenuptial agreements, estate planning, elder mediation, and collaborative practice.
