Dispute Resolution Center to host film screening, panel discussion on Oct. 20

In recognition of Conflict Resolution Day, The Dispute Resolution Center in Ann Arbor will present a film screening and panel discussion on the new documentary by Fusion, “Prison Kids, A Crime Against America's Children,” 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 20, at Washtenaw Community College, Morris Lawrence Building, in Ann Arbor.

With this presentation, The Dispute Resolution Center is shining a light on juvenile justice and how alternative forms of conflict resolution may be able to combat the pitfalls of “zero tolerance” that contribute to the school to prison pipeline.  By providing an opportunity to view and discuss this film, the DRC hopes to engender community awareness around Zero Tolerance Policies.

The panel members are Rodd Monts, Michigan ACLU; Amy McLoughlin, Ann Arbor Skyline High School; Dr. Brian Sellers, EMU criminology professor; and Leah D. Mills-Chapman, MSW, clinical therapist.

Tickets are $15. For more information, visit thedisputeresolutioncenter.org or call 734-794-2125.
