DRC Impact Awards set for May 11

The Dispute Resolution Center (DRC), serving Washtenaw and Livingston Counties, will honor Michigan Supreme Court Justice Bridget Mary McCormack and Washtenaw County Sheriff Jerry Clayton with DRC Impact Awards, set for 5:30 p.m., May 11, at the Washtenaw Golf Club, 2955 Packard Road, Ypsilanti.

This 18th annual event also serves as the primary fundraiser for the non-profit DRC.

Justice McCormack has served on the Michigan Supreme Court since 2013. She started her legal career with the Legal Aid Society in New York and has taught at Yale Law School and the University of Michigan Law School. In 2008 she founded the Michigan Innocence Clinic.

Washtenaw County Sheriff Jerry Clayton served in the Sheriff’s office for 20 years before retiring in 2006. He believes that building strong community-based partnerships and collaborations are key service philosophies. He is a proponent of the Total Policing policy that incorporates problem oriented policing for the Police Services Division.
