From Jackson County Chamber of Commerce

The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce Night of Distinction (Annual Meeting) offers members and the community the opportunity to pause and reflect on what another year with the Chamber has meant for them and the Jackson community.

In 2023, the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce had incredible successes worth recognizing, including adding 91 new members to its business community, $28,489 in rebates paid directly to members through the Accident Fund workers comp partnership, hosting 39 events with more than 2,000 total attendees, tracking services to minority owned businesses to ensure improved efforts year after year, driving 4,900 new leads to members through the online business directory, and culminating with the Chamber Board of Directors and staff completion of a new strategic plan to guide work for the next several years.

On February 1, the Night of Distinction ceremony included a reflection of 2023 and summary of what to expect for 2024, the reinstatement of Board Members and the welcoming of new Board Members, as well as the celebration of Community Award Winners.

With feature films announcing award winners throughout the evening, this year’s celebration was reimagined in both style and location. The Commonwealth Commerce Center served as host and catering provider, offering an expansive charcuterie board and numerous food stations, a full bar, and a theater-like experience due to a collaboration with Red Letter.

Community Award Winners included:

• Vocational Village (Parnall Rd. Correctional Facility), Reach Hire Award sponsored by Michigan Works! Southeast

• Southern Michigan Bank & Trust, OBTAIN Graphics, City of Jackson Fire Department (Station 2), and Jackson County ISD (Central Campus); Brick Awards sponsored by Jackson Commercial Contractors Association

• Stephen Willbee (Willbee Transit-Mix Co. Inc), Small Business Person of the Year sponsored by County National Bank

• Angela Machnik, Athena Award sponsored by TRUE Community Credit Union

• Rockin’ the Tee Box Music Festival by APEX Sports & Entertainment, Omotenashi Customer Service Award sponsored by Experience Jackson

• Bart & Karen Hawley, Jamie McKibbin Community Enthusiast Award in honor of Jamie McKibbin

• Kristi Tabor (Fox 47 News WSYM TV), Albert Earle Chamber Ambassador of the Year

The Night of Distinction event would not have been possible without its host, Commonwealth Commerce Center, as well as Gold Sponsor, Consumers Energy.

The celebration of award winners continued throughout Community Awards Week, February 5-9, with media stops for eacha ward winner at JTV, Home.fm, McKibbin Media Group, and Jackson Magazine.
