LEGAL PEOPLE

Butzel Long attorneys Sheldon H. Klein and David J. DeVine co-authored a guest article that ran in the fall 2012 edition of The Michigan Business Law Journal, produced by the State Bar of Michigan’s Business Law Section. The article is titled, “Contract Law and the Changing Business Needs of the Automotive Supply Chain: The Problem of Dual-Source Requirements Contracts.”

Based in Butzel Long’s Bloomfield Hills office, Klein regularly represents automotive industry suppliers in matters relating to upstream and downstream commercial relationships. He is a contributor to and principal editor of the Original Equipment Supplier Association (OESA) “North American OEM Production P.O. Terms and Conditions Comparative Analysis,” the standard industry reference, which Butzel Long has prepared annually since 2008. He also is a regular speaker at automotive industry events.

DeVine, based in Butzel Long’s Detroit office, practices in the areas of business litigation and bankruptcy and serves businesses in a wide array of industries, including automotive, banking, construction, and real estate.

Additionally, Butzel Long has continued its tradition for more than 10 years now by participating in an annual adopt-a-family program during the holiday season. Butzel Long partnered with Focus: HOPE to adopt three families for the holidays in Wayne, Oakland and Washtenaw Counties.

“The families are hard working single-parent homes,” said Calethia Binion, Human Resources manager at Butzel Long. “Our employees look forward to this very special Butzel Long tradition. They enjoy buying gifts for the families to ensure they have a very special holiday. On average, each child will receive eight gifts. Our employees often buy some extra items for families as well. In addition to the gifts, we also provide gift cards to grocery stores to ensure families have a wonderful holiday meal as well.”

During the year, Butzel Long gives back to the community in a variety of ways. Butzel Long has a history of public service, particularly assisting clients who could otherwise not afford legal representation. Providing quality pro bono legal services is a priority for Butzel Long. The firm’s lawyers, from the newest associate to members of the Board of Directors, use their expertise and training to make a difference each year, providing thousands of hours to those in need through a wide range of programs and relationships.
