Invested

The judicial investiture of Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Jacob Cunningham (center) took place January 24 in the Oakland County Board of Commissioners Auditorium. An alumnus of Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, Cunningham was elected to a 6-year term on the Circuit Court in November and officially began his judicial duties in January.  For the past 3-1/2 years, Cunningham has served as a judicial staff attorney for Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Mary Ellen Brennan. In 2015, Cunningham was honored by the Oakland County Bar Association as the recipient of the Outstanding New Lawyer Award. Among the featured speakers at the investiture ceremony were the judge’s parents, Judy Cunningham, longtime corporation counsel for Oakland County before retiring, and Jay Cunningham, a partner with Williams, Williams, Rattner, & Plunkett in Birmingham; and Mark Coolman, the judge’s partner. On hand for the ceremoney’s “Seating of the New Judge” were Oakland County Probate Court Chief Judge Kathleen Ryan (left) and Oakland County Circuit Court Chief Judge Shalina Kumar (right).
