Federal judge receives Purple Sport Coat Award

The Tenth Annual Tertzag Tribute Dinner took place Thursday, Feb. 28, at Park Place Banquet Hall in Dearborn. The recipient of this year’s Purple Sport Coat Award was U.S. District Court Chief Judge Denise Page Hood (center), Eastern District of Michigan. Hood started her legal career as an attorney in the City of Detroit Law Department, then became a judge in three different state courts—36th District Court, Recorder’s Court, and Wayne County Circuit Court (where she served with Judge Tertzag) before being appointed to the federal bench in 1994. The keynote speaker for the event was Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Lita Popke (right) who served with Judge Tertzag on the Wayne County Circuit Court when she became a judge in 2000. On hand to welcome the two to the dinner was Kara Tertzag Lividini (left) of Tertzag Dispute Resolution PLLC. Judge Tertzag passed away on February 4, 2009, having established a legacy of integrity and service to Michigan, as well as a great example of love and devotion to his family and legion of friends. The Tertzag Tribute Dinner preserves and honors his memory.
